Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Policy
Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Policy for Conscience Collective
Effective Date: [03/09/25]
Diversity and inclusion at The Conscience Collective are key to our success in today’s global market. We are
committed to promoting equal opportunities for all mentors, mentees, directors, staff and other personnel
who come into contact with The Conscience Collective and to prevent discrimination and ensure compliance
with all current and any future anti-discrimination legislation and associated codes of practice. We recognise
our people for their skills, experience and potential, regardless of gender, sexual orientation, age, race,
nationality, ethnic origin, religion or disability. We are limiting applications for mentees to our programme
for those under the age of 35 as we consider that nurturing the next generation of leaders in the healthcare
industry is a socially positive practice.
1. Our Vision
Our vision for success is to:
- create a culture where everyone feels valued and respected
- bring together people with differing and complementary skills, ideas and experience
- ensure people from diverse backgrounds feel motivated to develop their business skills and scale their companies
- provide opportunities which are open and accessible to all on the basis of ability, skills, appropriate qualifications and aptitude, and
- support the personal development of young entrepreneurs in the healthcare sector that reflects the diversity of the communities we seek to serve.
2. Our Aims and Objectives
We will work to broaden access to The Conscience Collective and to business leadership in the
healthcare sector as a whole. Our aims and objectives to implement our vision are to:
- select entrepreneurs under the age of 35 within the healthcare industry with innovative products or services from the widest pool of suitably qualified candidates, prioritising applications from those whose projects align with our mission;
- give talented business leaders the opportunity and support to develop successful businesses in the healthcare sector in order that these businesses will as a result, be able to better serve lower to middle income countries;
- where appropriate, take positive measures to attract applications for our directors, staff, mentors and mentees that reflect the diversity of the communities in which we operate; and
- create a culture of inclusion and respect.
3. Discrimination
At The Conscience Collective we acknowledge that we must not in our professional dealings with our directors, staff, mentees, mentors or other personnel who come into contact with The Conscience
Collective discriminate, without lawful cause, against any person, nor victimise or harass them on the grounds of:
- race or racial group (including colour, nationality and ethnic or national origin);
- sex (including marital status, gender reassignment, pregnancy, maternity and paternity);
- sexual orientation (including civil partnership status);
- religion or belief;
- age;
- disability; or
- part-time and/or fixed-time working status
The Conscience Collective is also committed to ensuring that reasonable adjustments are made to
prevent any of The Conscience Collective’s directors, staff, mentors or mentees who are disabled
from being at a disadvantage in comparison to those who are not disabled.
The equality, diversity and inclusion policy is fully supported by the Board of Directors.
All directors, staff, mentors and mentees are required to observe this policy which will be brought to
the attention of all staff and individuals participating in the mentorship scheme (including new
joiners). Any instances of discrimination or conduct amounting to a breach of this policy will result
in investigation and appropriate action will be taken, as decided by the Board. Any complaints made
by directors, mentees or personnel who come into contact with The Conscience Collective in
connection with a breach of this policy will be dealt with and appropriate action will be taken, as
decided by the Board.
We will review, evaluate and if necessary update this policy on a regular basis in a manner proportionate to
the size and nature of The Conscience Collective, to measure its progress and judge its effectiveness. If you
would like more information on our diversity and inclusion activities, or if you have any concerns or a
complaint about the application of or breach of this policy please contact Rani Nagra.
